Why We Were Doing A Study About Sleep?
Sleep difficulties have been identified as a common health problem within New Zealand. Unfortunately there has been little research done in our country to date so we don't know what kinds of help works for New Zealanders. We conducted a study investigating how people with sleep difficulties think about sleep, and how they find the treatment options available to them. We hope that having this information will help us to develop new treatment options for people with sleep difficulties.
The Sleep Survey
We asked people who have experienced difficulty with sleep to complete our sleep survey. This survey asked for some information about the participant (age, gender and ethnicity), some information about their sleep patterns and beliefs about sleep, and some information about their treatment choices and how effective they have been.
This project was reviewed and approved by the Northern-Y Regional Ethics Committee (NTY/10/EXP/085).
Our Progress
The study is now closed. We would like to thank everyone who took part. Your time and effort were much appreciated, and you have helped us to better understand treatment for sleep difficulties in New Zealand.
