IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION --
The most important thing to recognize is that the primary and overarching policy statement for the Centre is the Code of Ethics For Psychologists Working in Aotearoa/New Zealand. The Code covers all those working at the Centre, and provides guidance that takes priority over any internal policy. This is because there is no policy/procedure that can require a psychologist to breach the Code of Ethics. The policies given below are simply expressions of the Code. If there is no policy drafted it will usually be because no further expression of the Code is thought to be necessary.
The second set of documents that are vital to consider are the Psychologist Board's Core Competence statements for Psychologists, Clinical Scope Psychologists, and Cultural Competencies. These, and the processes required to assure competence, are critical to how we practice at the Centre.
The policies/procedures referred to below cannot be fully understood without also referring to, and having a thorough understanding of, the Code of Ethics and the Psychologist Board's Continuing Competence Programme.
We will be using this page to share significant reports, policies and procedures regarding our operations. There is still some work to be done here so please check back soon.
We welcome comment either on our email feedback form or directly to the Centre.
