The Psychology Centre

Clinical Staff
We have four clinical psychologists on our staff.

John Fitzgerald M.A. (Keele), M.Sc. (B'ham), PhD (Waikato), MNZPsS, MICP, MNZCCP.
John is also the Centre's Director. He has particular clinical and research interests in general child, adolescent and family mental health, adolescent depression, mental health outcomes, NGO and Primary Care sector service management and delivery.

Philippa Thomas M.Soc.Sci. (Waikato), Dip. Psych. (Clin) (Waikato), MNZPsS, MICP.
Philippa has a background in adult mental health and forensic psychology. At the present time she is involved in lots of supervision, and has a research interest in behavioural activation programmes and mindfulness.

Karma Galyer, BSocSci (Hons), MSocSci, PGDipPsych (Clinical), PhD (Waikato), MNZPsS, MICP.
Prior to arriving at the Centre in 2006 Karma spent six years at the Child Development Centre at Waikato Hospital. Her practice and research interests are focused on child and family care, particularly health and disability concerns for young children.

Jessica Clarke M.Soc.Sci (Waikato), PGDip Psych (Clin) (Waikato), MNZCCP.
Prior to starting at the Centre Jess spent three years with Child, Youth and Family Services. She has an interest in child welfare and trauma recovery.

Research Staff

Deb Christini-Crawford
Over the summer (2009-2010) Deb is assisting us with a survey entitled The Identification and Assessment of Psychosocial Risk in Primary Care Settings. He position is funded by a Summer Studentship awarded by Auckland University via the Waikato Clinical School.

Administration
Lyn Walsh
Lyn is our Centre administrator. She greets people on their arrival, keeps the books, and generally ensures that everything runs smoothly. If you need to know anything about the Centre ... ask Lyn.
