HoNOS Evaluation

Research

Evaluation of Waikato DHB Mental Health Services MH-SMART First Stage Implementation Project.

John Fitzgerald, Philippa Thomas & Karma Galyer

The collection of specific MH-SMART data by Waikato DHB’s mental health service has been mandatory since July 2005. This project had the goal of determining how Waikato DHB’s mental health staff have been collecting elements of the MH-SMART data set (specifically HoNOS), the accuracy of the data collected, and how they used these data to inform clinical practice.

This project is now completed. This project generated two technical reports and a final report which was submitted before the end of June 2007.

As the final project report is the property of Waikato DHB we cannot make it available. However, click here for a summary of the main project findings (.pdf format).

We presented the findings of the project at the He Kakano: Australasian Mental Health Outcomes Conference held in Wellington, New Zealand in 2007. David Ireland (MH-Smart site co-ordinator, Waikato DHB) also presented at the conference. The slides from both presentations will be available on the Te Pou website soon ( www.tepou.co.nz).
